Tierra Shapes Ceramics

The story of Tierra Shapes Ceramics started with the curiosity of Priscilla Adom Tawiah, the founder and CEO of PEL’s Farms Foundation. In 2022 when she acquired farmlands at the Torgome Traditional Area she identified that pottery making was one of the major occupations of the women of the community. Her love for these eco-friendly products made her place an order for a variety of the clay products for an occasion she was hosting.

As she engaged the women, she became curious about the preparations of these cooking pots. That curiosity ended up with her spending hours with some of the potters that was when she discovered the manual tedious process involved in ceramic or pottery production in the Torgome Traditional Area. A process that adversely affect the health of the women causing, waist and respiratory issues, low production capacity and a high risk to the environment. Priscilla couldn’t stand it. She felt in her the explicit need to urgently help these women. Something had to be done!

After almost four years of closely engaging one of PEL’S Farms Foundation Partners; MTN Foundation, Tierra Shapes Ceramics was established

Tierra Shapes is a ceramic production hub that trains and sharpen the skills of the potters of the Torgome Traditional Area whiles offering employment to many.

Four Satellite Studios

Having established Tierra Shapes Ceramics by partnering with MTN Foundation, PEL’S Farms Foundation wishes to establish four (4) Satellite Ceramic Studios (SCS) in Azagonokope, Esokokpe, Torgome and Nakpoe. These studios will further serve the purpose of training and upgrading the skills of more potters which offering them more employment.

The ultimate goal is to transform the Torgome Traditional Area into a ceramic production hub whiles positively transforming the socio-economic status of the area.
